Many of you will notice Jaclyn Schick – she’s the smiling and pleasant person in the background who keeps things moving and doesn’t get rattled. Jaclyn quietly organizes our Famous 5 set ups and take downs, she also arranges audience seating.
How did you end up in the FM community?
I have lived in Fort McMurray for 12 years. My husband and I moved here after University for the opportunities that this region offers.
What is your work title and what do you do?
I work for Shell Albian Sands as a Community Relations Representative.
Outside of work, how did you get started volunteering and why do you do it?
I started volunteering at a young age as I was involved with Girl Guides of Canada. I have had a lot of great opportunities and I believe it is important to get involved to make the community you live in your home.
What do you like about volunteering with F5?
This is my first year volunteering with F5. I have enjoyed each of the speakers and the networking opportunities the speaker events provide. Hearing each woman’s story is very inspiring.
What’s your favorite volunteer experience and why?
I love working with youth. I volunteer as a Spark Leader with my daughter. It is a lot of fun to do activities with the girls as they are excited to learn and they teach me just as much as I am able to teach them!
