No one has the power to shatter your dreams, unless you give it to them.
This quote is something that I have always tried to live by and on January 21st, 2016, I was lucky to be gifted with the opportunity to attend the Famous 5 Speaker Series event at Shell Place where I was thoroughly inspired by a strong, determined woman named Marianne Ryan. This outstanding woman has been a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for over 33 years when she began her career in law enforcement after graduating from the University of Western Ontario. → Deputy Commissioner Marianne Ryan had to use her courage to overcome many obstacles along her road to success, and in her presentation, she said that what helped her keep her head up the most along the way, through all of the ups and downs, was her family. She let us know, many times in her speech, that having her family’s support made the “ups” great and the “downs” much more bearable. On behalf of myself and the other attending students from Holy Trinity Catholic High School, we truly enjoyed the presentation, the food, and the company. We all went home with food in our bellies and inspiration in our hearts! We send our gratitude and appreciation for the wonderful opportunity to attend this women’s leadership event. Thank you!
