Do what you love, and you’ll love what you do.
From the time we are little we are always told to follow our dreams and to do what makes us happy. However, no one talks about how hard it can be to succeed in those very dreams. For some of us, we are held back by our gender or our race. In Saadia Muzaffar’s Famous 5 speaker series talk, she shared some eye-opening anecdotes about her struggle with those two barriers.
On February 18th, I had the honour of hearing Saadia speak not only about her experience with discrimination in the workplace, but also about how we can try and end it. She spoke about the need to open the discussion about inequality in the workforce and gaining the courage to speak up against it.
As a young woman who will soon be entering the workforce, I hope that I have at least half the courage of Saadia Muzaffar, that I will never be afraid to speak my mind and will be equally valued as any of my male counterparts.
