Joan McCusker was part of a Curling team that dominated the world of women’s Curling in the 1990s. Joan and her team won three Canadian and three World Curling Titles plus a Gold Medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan. Joan joined the CBC TV Sports Broadcast team as a Curling commentator in 2001 and worked as a provincial coordinator of the Olympic Torch Relay for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and worked at the Wheelchair Curling venue at the 2010 Paralympic Games.
Joan graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1987 with a Bachelor of Education and currently works as a substitute teacher with Regina Public elementary schools. She was a founding Director on the board of the Sandra Schmirler Foundation and continues to support this charity. Joan loves motivational speaking and has been inspiring audiences across Canada for over 15 years. We are thrilled she will be bringing her inspirational message to Fort McMurray!
